When I reach into the gun safe for a hunt or a shoot, I always grab the same few guns. They may not be my most accurate guns in my box, but they are the ones I reach for. I feel the most comfortable shooting these guns when it counts, and I think that is why I grab these first.

Ruger 10/22 tree rats
7600 30.06 & RB .454 6 1/2" deer and up (excluding the obvious)
870 12 gauge when a lot of pelets are needed.

I have many others, but I grab these because they are like my good luck guns... knock on wood.

Do you guys have this same "problem"? What guns?

Remington 572 Fieldmaster. Seen more game, big and small with this rifle than any other in my life.

A Remington 870 Wingmaster that I bought new in 1974, and a "Made in the 200th year of American liberty" 6 1/2" Ruger Blackhawk in 357 Mag that I bought in 1976.

For shotgunning it comes down to the ole 870 I have had for over 20 years. When using Contenders on deer, I have plenty of more capable barrels but the 357 Rem Max is the one I have shot more deer with and rely on when the chips are down.
