question about shotgun primers

A buddy gave me a large number of Federal shotshell primers.  They are marked as No. 410 primers.  I know that most shotshell primers I see for salel or in load data are No. 209s.  Then seem to be the same size, and are kind of a copper color instead of brass or silver color.  Can anyone give me an idea what these are and if I can use them in my regular loads....

They are a 209 size but a bit milder than average and are intended for use in .410 shells but they work fine in others as well. I've used them all the way up to 12 gauge with no problems. If you're wanting to load magnum level loads you'd be better off not using them but otherwise they should do fine.

Thanks GB,  since I have several thousand of them and all I shoot with a shotgun is clay and dove's, (I should have said shoot at) maybe they'll do ok......

they will also work very well out of a 209 muzzleloader
