Using 1911 magazines to reload a single-action revolver
« on: March 27, 2003, 03:44:46 PM »
I came across a great Ol' Injun Trick for loading single-action revolvers fitted with semi-auto cylinders; 9MM, 45 ACP, 10MM, ect.

One thing I did find. Kept some crappy Colt 1911 magazines in my pocket...was much easier to just thumb the .45acp's out of the magazine and directly into the Ruger's loading gate...about the fastest way to reload a single action (smae goes for 9mm mags in the 9mm cylinders).

If you have a .357 single action, get a Colt 1911 .38 Super magazine for fast reloads. You can also use .38 Supers in the gun. They'll function just fine. If you like and can afford it you can also use a Desert Eagle Magazine in .357. Mag or .44 Mag.

38 Super in 357 Mag

Yep, you can shoot .38 Supers in a .357 Mag revolver.  I've done it a few times.  Accuracy can be a little off due to the couple of thousandths difference in the Super vs. Magnum bullet.  (.355 vs. .357)  But the same goes for shooting a 9mm in a Ruger Blackhawk convertible.
