Case extraction problem - BRNO Model 2 bolt action rifle
« on: May 23, 2007, 10:54:34 PM »

I’ve got a marvellous old BRNO Model 2 bolt action rimfire rifle which occasionally has the annoying habit of not releasing the case during the extraction process –  the shell’s rim simply remains held between the twin extractor claws and has to be physically flicked out using a finger tip. Has anybody encountered this problem and is there a simple fix ? Sincere thanks for any assistance or advice.

If you haven't already I'd take the spring clip off, remove the extractors and clean the slots out.  If that doesn't fix it maybe replace the spring clip?

Hi There,

Just a thought ................................... try some different ammo!

This evening I tried some Remington Yellow Jackets in an old BSA Sportsman Five rifle which has a reciever P-H sporting peep sight fitted to it. Using South African SwartclipStd velocity ammo and Winchester Sub Sonic ammo it extracts fine but it will not extract these yellow jackets most of the time ..................... sigh.
