Question RE particular rifle
« on: May 23, 2007, 06:46:02 AM »
A fellow nearby has a new (10 rounds fired) CZ550 Varmint in .308 he wants to trade to me. It has a wood stock and 25 + inch bull barrel. He cannot remember what scope he has on it.  He will let me try it.  I see on the CZ website it weighs 9.1 pounds and has their set trigger.  Can this be set up to be a suitable silhouette rifle for local NRA competitions?  I have never tried this game.  Thanks.

It'll likely be too heavy. The max weight for a standard rifle is 10lb, 2oz. It's going to be hard to keep it under that with a scope and rings added. Other features of it, such as having to feed from the magazine and a very limited selection of ways to attach a scope will make it a less than optimal choice for silhouette. The CZs are fine rifles, but there are much better choices for silhouette shooting.

Thank you.  That is exactly what I needed to know.
