I spotted what might be a "Gopher Special" Winchester Model 70 in .220 Swift, hanging F/S on a gun shop wall yesterday. It was tagged at $1500 - but the shop owner's always open to dickerin.
It was a pre-64 - I disremember the serial number/range, and it had iron sights with the rear sight barrel bulge on about a 26" bbl.
Mounted on top was a vintage Litschert scope, power uknown, but straight-tubed with no front bell.
The only downside, conditionwise, was a couple of extra D/T holes in the left receiver wall from an early side scope mount.
