My wife got me an early Christmas present yesterday!
A new 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS!

4x4, diff lock, and traction control should get me to the field.

It even came with some Goodyear AT tires. Not that highway junk most of the 4wds come with these days.

The only thing wrong with it is it doesn't have a Hemi. Ha Ha You got a nice truck.  I've always liked a white truck; it hides the dirt and the paint stays nice longer through the years.  Keep it between the ditches..

No not a Hemi. Not even the big Chevy. 4.8L v8.
Still it's 100hp more than my old truck.
I was looking for white. All my trucks have been dark. They were terrible in the hot(120 degrees) dusty summers around here.
This one has just enough chrome to keep it from looking like the utility company too.

My new ride is a 2008 Toyota Sequoia. I've gone back to SUVs after four years of my Toyota Tundra. I've spent most of the time since I got my new '85 Bronco driving an SUV and missed it so went back to SUV as my primary ride.

Mine too is white and 4x4 and has some sort Toyota locking diffs system in it. My tires are more street than off road but then I don't get off road much anymore anyway so I'm sure it will do what I need it to. Mostly it is just big and comfortable and is getting 17.0 mpg since I've had it for all my driving. It has 381 hp so is for sure powerful.

I really like the looks of the new GM/Chevy pickups these days. I think they might be the best looking out there right now. Those in the ads that keep showing up here sure are nice looking.

 Wow! Nice Wife there. I hope you got her something good. I got mine a deluxe toaster oven (what the hey, that's what she said she wanted) 

 There are some amazing deals on full-size trucks right now. I really wanted to get one. My Wife and I looked at some big crew cab trucks, but all she could say when I asked her how she liked them was "Uhhh... It certainly is big." She just wasn't comfortable with the size; wouldn't even drive one when we were looking at them. I've had a '73 GMC for 13 years, and she's never driven it.

 We ended up getting a 2008 Tacoma 4x4 4-door short bed a couple of months ago. Pretty good deal at $200 over invoice and 0% financing for 60 months. Toyota's small trucks are pretty big compared to the last one I bought in 1985. Unfortunately, that one (and I along with it) met with misfortune shortly after I got it...





 The new one came with about 20 air bags and other safety features not available 23 years ago...

Graybeard, I had thought about an SUV too but I grew up farming and have always had a truck.
I still haul things that I wouldn't put in my wife's jeep liberty.
Dirt, lumber, gas cans, and if I am lucky a deer.

I looked at Toyota trucks real hard. They have solid products and accually made a little money this year.
Just didn't find one that suited me.

BTW Graybeard 17 is better than I have been hearing around here for that motor!

chev man through and through and my ho 5.3 will put a good scare on any hemi 4x4 on the road and get better gas milage doing it.  Just ask my 2 neihbors.

The new 2009 Dodge has 390hp and will be Dodge's last attempt I'm afraid to be on top of the 1/2 ton truck market.  Cheverolet makes a good truck, I've owned a few. I just was not impressed with the engines that came in them. The old 350 was just a better engine than the 5.3.  Compared to Dodge and Toyota, the 5.3s are underpowered.  Cheverolet seems to be building theirs for gas mileage though and I can't knock that.  That may change if Dodge and Gm merge. My brother-in-law has a 2007 gmc 5.3 and pulls a 24ft Terry camper just like mine.  His truck has ran hot several times pulling that camper in the mountains during the summer. He has the towing package and all but the camper is too much for it. The cooling system can't keep up. I've had to pull over and wait on him.  I don't know why they ever quit making the 350.  They could have hopped that engine up enough to make all the makes look sick.  The 350 cheverolet can make 400hp easily with the right parts.

That's why they are offering the "six liter Hemi eater" in half tons know.
GM is even working the 6.2 into the trucks know.

The 350 will not pass tier three emissions.
The Vortech 5.7 version got it by a little longer.

I had no idea GM was offering the 6 liter in the 1/2 ton now.  I wonder how much you 'd have to pay for that option?  I wish Dodge would do the same with their 6.1 liter Hemi.  I heard it has something like 420hp but then that would be ridiculous in a truck. Anyways, nice truck parts man; I've got to admit, I'm a bit jelous.....Even with the samll v-8,it pull more than you'd ever probably need.  Put her in 4 low and she'll pull about anything.

Oh I have a pickup it's just not my main vehicle or primary ride. It's an old F150 from early 2000s. I honestly don't even remember what year it is.

I'm a real gentle driver. I don't exceed the speed limit PERIOD. I use cruise control all the time. Only in town to I not use Cruise. It was at 17.2 until I had to spend some time in town driving around one day earlier in the month and that dropped the mileage to 17.0 which is still showing on the dash. It was reset shortly after I got the truck and I've left it running in cumulative MPG reading since. I think I have a little over 2600 on it now. I am not a high mileage driver and unless I get to go to OK next year it might end next year with no more than 7500 on it.
