Springfield XD 45ACP date of manufacture???

Can someone please tell me how to determine the date of manufacture of the Springfield XD 45acp pistols???  Also, anyone have any thoughts on the XD 45acp positive or negative?  I'm thinking of getting one for CCW.  It would be my first semi as I have always been a wheel gun man.  Many thanks,

I thought I posted a reply last night but I guess its in cyberspace, The XD models came out in 2003 to be serial # specific you will have to contact Springfield.   JIM

I have an XD .45 and I love it.  I also have an XD .40 as a duty weapon and like it very much as well.  The grip on the .45 is slightly bigger and as I have big hands, it fits me nicely.  As for the date of the .45s, they have not been offered as long as the .40 and 9mm pistols.  I bought mine directly from Springfield, I only live 30 minutes from them, in February of 2006 and they had only been available for a short time before that as I understand it.  I am sure you will not have any regrets about purchasing it.  The XD gear it comes with is also pretty nice.  If you have any further questions, let me know.  I am no expert but I have experience with two calibers of XDs.

Add me to the list of folks that love their XD45. Hard to argue w/ 13 rounds of .45acp in a reasonably sized grip. I've only put about 500 rounds through mine so far, but it hasn't had any issues w/ feed or eject for WWB, CCI Blazer Brass, RP UMC, either 185 JHP or 230 ball.
