Leupold base,rings,Japanese Tasco 3x20.
I paid $300 OTD.
I'm looking forward to a range trip.

Wouldn't the .223 in a 10" barrel be very loud?  I have not shot any of the bottleneck cartridges in a barrel that short.  In fact I steer clear due to concerns about the noise.  I do shoot bottle nose cartridges in a 14" barrel so I guess they wouldn't be much louder.

Had one in 1986. The muzzle blast & flash from a 10-inch .223 is pretty impressive, if you aren't expecting it.

Aardvark,
Congrats on a darn good deal on your 1st Contender.  I have but one myself, but have managed
to cobble on to 14 barrels (I know, it's an illness).

I have but one barrel over 10"...a 7-30 Waters barrel the gun came with.

I'd love to come upon a 10" .223 barrel for a great deal.

I Make Oil,
I target shoot and hunt with my Contender and NEVER pop a cap without hearing protection...
deer hunting with everything from .357 Mag to .45 Colt and 7-30 Waters.
I use electronic muffs while deer hunting...they keep my ears warm(er) too!
