More on Ear Protection
« on: June 08, 2007, 12:17:22 PM »
What is best electronic ear protection for the money?  I am thinking of the ear plug variety that even amplify the sounds that you want to hear.  I am interested in a quality set that lets me hunt.

I know there is another thread on a related topic, but I am specifically interested in the plugs and want to hear of the experiences of others.

I like the SportEars, but if I were ignoring cost, I'd get those that are custom molded to your ear canal.

I have a set of the E.A.R., Inc. hearing protectors that were molded to my ear.  They are excellent!  They are unobtrusive and comfortable enough to wear all day but not cheap.  They also work well enough to take the pain out of shooting braked 460 & 500 S&W Magnums.

I have the Radians Hunters' Ears.    I've used them for everything from shooting skeet, shooting from the bench, and hunting.....and wouldn't trade them for anything.

What's the best?   Well, that's subjective.....  From what I've seen you can't go wrong with Radians, Walkers, or Peltors.

Thanks for the input.  Just don't want to buy into junk that doesn't function well in hunting situations.
