Date of manufacture of the Springfield XD 45acp

Can someone please tell me how to determine the date of manufacture of the Springfield XD 45acp pistols???  Also, anyone have any thoughts on the XD 45acp positive or negative?  I'm thinking of getting one for CCW.  It would be my first semi as I have always been a wheel gun man.  Many thanks,

the 4 in. 2002 the 3 and 5 in. models were 2003 good luck HTH   JIM

Bounty Hunter,

I have a 4" XD in .45 and I love it. It is not as accurate as my SigPro that I sold to be able to buy it but the extra firepower makes up for it. I would suggest though maybe getting the smaller 3" model for CCW use. I think the larger models are a bit bulky and hard to conceal.
