The little 4 5/8s super project gun
« on: June 28, 2007, 10:16:38 AM »
took it out today and with the 4440 cyl shot 5 6 shot groups that averaged just over an inch. It was loaded with hp38 and a 215 lyman swcgc. Then switched to the 44 mag cyl and shot a load of wc820 and a 421429. I only had 12 of them with me and shot them into one group that would have been under an inch if it wasnt for one flyer (probably me) that opened the group up to 1 1/4 if you can call it a flyer. Little gun is sure a shooter. I dont think ive shot a group yet with it over 1 3/4

What is the velocity of your 44 mag load with the 429421 and wc820?

no idea pal but if i had to take a shot in the dark id say it should run about 1100 fps out of it. Ask Al as i know hes used that load alot and im sure hes run it accross a chrono. Mine gets broke out about once ever 5 years.

spent the morning at the range and pounded about 500 rounds through it and then went home and fired the 44 square deal up and waded through about 3/4s of a 5 gallon pail of brass. Ive got enough ammo for it for a month or so now.

there was pictures posted back when i was putting it together on here if you look back you might still find them. Its  4 5/8 stainless super with an alumuinum grip frame and ejector rod housing the recoil sheild and loading gate are scalloped. belt mountain sheriffs pin bowen rear and clements front sight 2 lb triggerand the action is slicked up, warning removed and the whole thing is bead blasted to match. Its about my most stock ruger but still one of my favorites.

Lloyd,

That pistol is beautiful. I love this particular Ruger configuration since I have one myself, but it is pure stock excluding the grip. It is my fav deer hunting and back up gun while archery hunting pistol, so compact, powerful, accurate and durable.

looks basically the same except the frame was rubbed out a little to match the grip frame.

Lloyd, what does it cost to have the recoil shield and loading gate scalloped?  44 Man.
