My favorite gun store had one on their shelf.  Basically it looks and handles exactly like the other models.  It is of the newer stainless/synthetic variety.  Overall I loved it, and yes it should make a great deer rifle.  If accurate enough, I should do out to 200-300 yards.

The Mini-30 Ranch Rife can also make a good deer rifle with much lower cost ammo.  Then again, you could get a much lower priced SKS, but not in stainless, and not with decent scope mounts.

I'd be interested in hearing about what kind of groups you get out of your 6.8.  I have an AR in 6.8 and it's a great caliber.  I haven't taken any game with it yet though.  Congrats on your new rifle!

i have one in 7.62 and 223 , really would like to see the 6.8 rem , i had an SKS , can't cut it down , did what it was made to do ! son killed a deer with it , but i like American made better !
XHARE , did ya notice if it use  its own  mag. or either a 223 or 7.62 mag ? if it used 223 mags that would be nice !

I didn't pop the magazine out to have a look at it.  It may not even have been in it.  This store has the long arms out for you to grab and have a look at so often the magazines are taken out to keep people from walking off with them.

its a shame some people are like that , it would be nice it they used the 223 mag as instant 20 rounders would be aval. from ruger !

I agree about people stealing magazines.  With some rifles the "feel" of the rifle is dramatically different with the magazine in versus out (high capacity mags are often in the way for me).  It is nice to heft it with a mag in.  That said, it is not really a factor with the Ruger standard mag.
