Value of Raw Furs

 :) Howdy!  Just curious, but about how much do you get for coon, coyote, and other furs?  Can you make a living by trapping or is it just a hobby?  Your views and comments appreciated!  Thanks!

 Gene, the prices of fur is dependent on where you are from.
 It is nearly impossible to make a living on wild fur sales.I trap for fur,do a small amount of adc trapping,sell trapping supplies and do a bit of writing.I would think I was rich, if I could come anywhere close to making minimum wage. I can't and I ain't.

 Gene, I have no idea the prices on southern fur.I know some northern coon sold for $30.00 on the last auction,but Texas fur in no way compares to ours.
 I hope someone can fill you in a bit better on your prices.

 :) Howdy! Tom: Thanks for the info!  There are many, many coons, coyotes, bobcats, etc. around where I live.  I personally do not know anyone who traps for hides, etc.  Some people do trap hogs, but that's about all.  Thanks!

Top prices for RAW 'coon fur in TX this past season was around $6, but for most of the season, $5 was about the norm. Coyotes -- good ones, that is -- went for up to $11, but if they had big bullet holes, etc. they were of little or no value.

I think I got $11 each for my grays. A good bobcat brought $80 with a few exceptional ones drawing up to $115.

I sold to Tommy King along his SW & west TX route.
