Tred Barta is no sportsman... if he only realized he does more harm than good. But then again he probably doesn't care....  $$$$$

I had a 150lb sow charge me and hit my feet. I tried to kind of kick her and fight her off with my foot and she got under me and flat out flipped me on my butt. She could have tore into me but she was more worried about getting away then leaving her mark.

A buddy and me were running into the brush where the dogs were bayed up. We had just let me catch dog go and we were going in behind it. The boar hog was trying to come out on the trail we were trying to go in on. The catch dog hit and went flying. My buddy stopped dead in his tracks and was looking for something to climb... I had grabbed a limb did a curl to get off the ground. He turned to run and tripped. He fell on the ground in the trail. The hog was right at his feet and my catch dog slammed it from the side. The hog was close enough to hook the laces on on of his boots and cut them. He still talks about how that dog saved his life.

I have a ton of stories of close calls like these... but that is just everyday stuff when hog hunting. You never know what is going to happen and every hunt is different. That is what attracts.... and keeps hog hunters/ adrenaline junkies like us doing it.

This is a picture of one of my buddies when we were crawling in on trails to a boar hog that was bayed up in the brush. This time we were just using bay dogs and 30-30s. It was dark,,, no lights because they will charge them,,, and you could hear baying probably 10yrds in front of us then it went silent then I hear... boom... and he started screaming/ laughing like a woman. I was trying to tell him not to move so I could get a picture but he just couldn't stand the hog laying on his boot. He had to back up a little bit. Glad it went down his trail and not myne... I would have ruined that pair of pants.:-[

Thats slightly different than slicing a pigs throat on the ground.....THAT would be a rush.

Its not like the pig is held down or anything for you to stab. I have had pigs drag my whole pack. I literally had to run to catch up with the hog and stab it on the run or grab on and hope some one is coming behind me.

Hogs will spin just like a bull at the rodeo. Imagine standing there watching the hog spin and timing when you are going to jump in a grab a hold of it. Makes you feel like a rodeo clown... and just because you are holding on doesn't mean you are in control.

Not to mention you are most likely going to have to crawl in the thickest, thorniest spot on the ranch. At least rodeo clowns are in an open arena and have some where to run... we don't always have that luxury.

Thats what happened to us last night when I lost my last good strike/all around dog. Boar was caught in some thick ass chit 20 yrds or so from the truck and we had to crawl in. We got there and could not stick the hog as we needed room. Finally got the hog killed an started lookin for/at all dogs and found him stroked out and cut bad. The hog that got him is posted under payed the piper last night.

Had a friend that the dog lost his hold on,,big boar charged the hunter went through his legs,,ripped him open from knee to testicles, removing the right one,,missed the femoral by less than an inch,,he would have bled out before anyone could have gotten him back to the truck,,as it was he was in pretty bad shape but glad it was just a testicle!! I always have that doubt before I jump on the head to cut the throat,,is this pig gonna stay down and I really hope the guy on the back legs don't lose hold!!!!  Some of them things are mighty hard to flip and hold!!!
