Hi, My second post here, the first one was seeing about getting a copy of Brian's Handi-Rifle article.   I just bought an H & R Topper 158 in 20 gauge and .30-30.  I think it is an old one as there is no serial number on the receiver, the 20 ga. barrel.  There is a number on the 30-30 bbl tho.   Any ideas on how old this combo is?  I also noted a lot of deer hunters on here.  Any Hog hunters?  Found Greybeards site on Texasboars.com.  Like what I see so far.  Thanks for any info on the topper.

Welcome to GBO! I too have an old H&R that has no serial number, but there's a list of production years in the FAQs that starts in 1940 if that gives you any clues to it's age.

Lots of deer and hog hunters, if you look back a few pages, you'll find lots of posts on both.

The Handi rifle is the common man's gun. No one is going to ogle over it looking at the fit and finish or the gorgeous wood. It is made to be taken afield, used and be reliable. I think that is why so many that frequent this site are down to earth type guys that like to hunt and shoot. They appreciate the rifle for what it was intended for and what it is.

OK Mac, of course you are right. I did not mean to insult your babies. I should have known better than to say they were plain on this site. ::) You CAN customize it any way you want. They are beauties, especially the first one ;D
