Review of 2x7 Multi-Shot
« on: July 14, 2007, 05:06:23 AM »
I mounted this scope on a 358 BLR In January. I wanted it specifically for hunting hogs at night on our lease. First impressions are it is not a compact but not overly large either. At first I thought Iwould have preferred not to have the illumintated reticule but now after having used it it is worth the knob on top of the eyepiece. First the glass is just fine and I really like the crosshair design as it is plenty thick for night hunting. My first trip to the range I sighted in with a proven load of 47.0 grains of 3031 pushing a 200 grain Remington RNCL and then resighted in with 250 grain Speer Hotcors pushed by 46.0 grains of Winchesters 748. all cases were formed from 308 brass either Remington of Federal. Primers are CCI250.  Got lined up on the 50 yard range real quick andhit the 100 yard range. I use paper plates as targets so I can see my bullet holes easily without using a spotting scope. I mmediatly took to the dot, really like it for fine shooting on round targets. This rifle with these loads is slightly better than a 1 1/2 inch shooter.  The verticle adjustment is a bit stiff and appeared to move my bullet a bit more than an inch per click however the horizontal adjustment seemed to move around Half an inch which is just fine using this rifle. Isighted in using the scope set at 4.5x so as to be in the middle of the adjustment range and could not tell that bullet impact moved when I changed the power ring to either 2x or 7x. A good thing is the eyepiece has a focus adjustment like the Bushnell scopes that makes it easy to set ti for an individuals eyes. Though I have hunted with it a couple of times the only thing shot with the rifle has been a large jackrabbit and 250 grain Speer bullets are very effective on them. The scope has held it's zero for more than 100 shots and the BLR does buck some.
