I bought a Lyman Great Plains Rifle!

I shot it again Saturday. I'm out to 100 yds now and getting them at least in the black. It would be better but I get flyers that open up the group. I'm swabbing the bore once after every shot with straight Windex on a patch over my jag but even after less than 10 shots it still gets grimy enough to where I have to pound on the ram rod sometimes when it goes through a sticky spot. It could be the Goex powder and I might get some Swiss if they have any at the black powder shop. Maybe it's cleaner.
Thanks.

Mine is a .54,   just a bigger hole.  Sounds like you got the ignition stuff figured out.  Ive shot both 50 & 54, and both seemed to like a thicker patch (.490 & .530 balls with .018-.020).  I use P-dex P, with prelubed wads.  Barrel stays loadable all day  I use the fixed rear sight,,Still working on the front blade.  They usually require filing down.  Depends upon what your sight picture is.
Can ya skin a griz, pilgrim?      Here, start on this one.....I'll get ya another'n.

Madmedic are those wads you use commercial or home made? That sounds like it's worth a try. I had to file A LOT off of my front sight and now that I'm out to 100 yards it's even going to need a little more. The ignition problem is gone. It did happen once this past Saturday though. What I do now is wipe off the nipple every few shots and make sure the cap is pressed down hard when I put them on.
