My hands-on experience is ZERO, but that will soon change because my F14 257Rob A&B arrived in the mail yesterday.  I am building one on a ZV24 Mauser action.
I've heard mostly good reviews.  They are considered good for the money, but they're definitely not Douglas' or Kreigers or Lijas or even Shaws.  Some say you get what you pay for.  If your building a low cost hunting rifle, they seem to be a good choice.  I hope so, anyhow.  Sorry I don't have any real experience, but I read a lot of the opinions on various gunboards.

I put an A&B 257 Roberts barrel on a Turkish action. Honest 3/4" groups easily.
BUT it has a rough bore, a box of shell max and the groups grow quickly.
Scrub it clean, a couple of fouling shots and it's right back to little groups.
As long as your not building a rifle to shoot lots of targets or praire dogs they work well for the money.
I'd do it again for a big game hunting rig.

I've used several and all were fine for hunting but most were not up to the accuracy expected of a target rig. I've a 35Whelan in the shop, working on it as time permits.  It is surely a nice shiney bore..

I have no personal experience with the barrels, but a guy I know who has more time and cash that anyone should has built several rifles with the barrels.  He's very happy with them, and has no complaints.

Hi, I have built approx ten rifles (all Mausers) using Adams and Bennett barrels, and have yet to find one that wouldn't shoot under an inch with the proper bedding,loads,trigger,etc.etc. I like E.R. Shaw and Shilen barrels, but have not noticed any better accuracy with them! I do think the bores on the A&B barrels are a little rough, but it usually doesn't make much difference in accuracy, only cleaning!
Thanks for listening,
Ken

Put an A&B in 35 Whelen on a Savage action and while the bore may be a little rough, it shoots great.  Go for it and let us know.

I was a little apprehensive about buying one in 308 win. but doing a quick search on several forums I found most people were very happy with them. the clincher was the guys over at the gunsmiths forum http://thegunsmiths.com/phpBB2/ more then one considered them a good barrel, and they have never let me down. All so the tech. at Brownell's said they were OK.

Just finished a Mauser 98 up with a A&B .338-06  barrel on it....honestly, it shoots a 3/4 inch group. It wasn't where I aimed!!!, but that not the barrels fault, seems previous owner drilled scope mount screws a little off to the side, past point of adjustment on the scope, so I'll be correcting that . I'll replace the two piece type sight bases with a one piece base. I've got to plug holes in the receiver, any suggestions?  That .338-06 is a boomer!!  I can see I'll see more recoil pad on that baby too.

That's the first project shooting finished, with needed final touches.  I have a .257 Roberts A&B barrel on a Mauser 48A in development (close) and a Mauser Turk 93 in development for a 7x57.

I have a sporterized mauser with an F34 22-250 barrel and a friend of mine has a mauser with an F34 280 remington barrel and an M48 with an F14 308 barrel.  Both my 22-250 and my friend's 280 are shooting very well, while the 308 hasn't been shot yet.  It is true that the bores are a bit rough, but they can be polished to reduce fouling.  My 22-250 seemed to be rougher than my friend's 280.  Overall, they are good barrels.  My only complaint is that I would like more choices of contour and twist.  I suspect that a lot of the price difference between the A&B barrels and some of the more expensive barrels has to do with the fact that most of the higher end barrels are factory lapped.  If you are willing to expend a little elbow grease, you can do a lot to close the performance gap.  You still won't have a benchrest barrel, but your price to performance ratio will be pretty good.

I have 2 of the barrels on Stevens 200 actions. One is in 223 and the other one is 221 Fire Ball. The 223 was especially rough. I did a lot of polishing on that one. It would foul up quickly. After all of the polishing, it does not foul up now. Here is some 5 shoot groups at 100 yards I shot one day last spring with it.

The 221 does not do quite this well, but it does shoot into .5 MOA on occasion. Keeping under .75 is easy. I think it needs a little more work and i could get it down to .5 consistantly. I think you find that the A & B barrels will shoot better than most factory barrels.
