i have tried 5 different type of primers CCI, REMINGTON,WINCHESTER and ect...if i shoot off only the primers i get no CRUDE RING ..but as soon as i use T7 POWDER i get the crude ring ..so i think the primer has nothing to do with the crude ring ..i am open for suggestions from the members .

The crud ring is something you have to deal with when using 209 primers and 777 powder. The degree to which you have to deal with it has everything to do with what primer you are using and the design of the breech plug, along with other factors such as humidity/weather/temperature, bullet type/weight, sabot, lubes, cleaning solvents to name a few.

Each muzzleloader is an individual, and you will have to experiment to find out what works best in your rifle to keep the crud ring to a minimum.

What rifle are you using? What granulation of 777, FFG or FFFG?

777 powder is worth the hassle IMO, I just have to find what works best for me in my rifle. 209 ignition is overkill for lighting off 777 loose powder, but is necessary when using 777 pellets. The heat of the primer caramelizes the "sugar based" powder, thus the crud ring. Your best defense is a cooler primer, or better designed breech plug. I use a .25 ACP plug in my Huntsman, and won't ever be going back to 209 primers. All my other muzzleloaders use #11 RWS caps, by design and choice.

Try the Remington Kleen bore primers with the triple 7, I have good success with them. But like Busta, I use the 25ACP cases with small rifle primers and get next to no crud ring. I also use bore butter in my barrels which in my opinion keep the crud ring down.

Black Powder you are wright it has nothing to do with the primer. Try using Pyrodex you will not have the crud ring. Tripple 7 has a lot of sugar in it, witch is why you get the crud ring.

It has to do with the primer AND the 777....it is the combination that does it.

Personally I hate pyrodex and will never use it again as 777 is so much easier to clean and shoot.  I too shoot the 25ACP conversion and no longer have crud ring issues.

With pyrodex all I had was...well...crud everywhere.

i have used PYRODEX and find the smell is horrible also very dirty , i am back on T7 pellets for good ..my REMINGTON and both of my TRADITION LT  and PRO had the crude ring ..i now have a ROSSI with a 23" barrel ..good for hunting deer from 50 to 75 yards with DEAD CENTERS 260gr.

While my experience does not qualify as definitive, I have found that breach plug design seems to be the biggest factor in the crud ring production. I have seen crud ring issues with several guns even when shooting Pyrodex and Black Mag 3. It may not be the same type of crud ring as 777 but feels the same when swabbing. It seems, from my observations, that breach plugs that allow more blow back seem to have less of a problem than the more sealed designs. This also lends support for the use of lower power primers to minimize the problem. There has also been some evidence that the condition of the bore may have some effect on how much of a crud ring will form, clean and dry seem to be best.

Busta has it right!!  No crud ring with triple seven and RWS #11 caps.  I  shot my Renegade couple of weeks ago 15 shots with no swabbing and T72Fg.

The Winchester T7 209's also work the best in my Encore with pyrodex, but I am getting away from it and going to loose T7 next trip out to the range.

I have had the same problems in my Encore. Has anyone tried the new 777 primers? Apparently, they are made to greatly reduce the crud ring.

As soon as I quit using T7, I no longer get the crud ring.  Pinnacle or Black powder work just great.

The most accurate loading for my Encores thus far have been Triple 7 primers using 130 grains of Pyrodex.  Everyone complains about the fouling ring while using Triple 7 loose powder. It's just something that is going to happen UNLESS you switch your priming system to something like the .25 ACP mentioned above.
