S&W 627 V-comp or Sig P220 Match SAO
« on: January 10, 2008, 06:10:27 AM »
I’m starting to look for a HD pistol.  I’m torn between the P220 Match SAO and the Smith and Wesson V-comp.  I think both the 357 and 45 are good for defense, so I guess the debate comes in based on the revolver .vs. pistol and the SAO follow up shot .vs. the DA.  There are other differences.  I’ve had a pistol before and always worried about the springs in the mags when you keep them loaded.  I try to rotate magazines and change springs, but always think about that as a possible problem.  With a revolver, I wouldn’t have to worry about that.  I’m strictly thinking of a HD gun here not a carry gun.  That’s a whole other can of worms...  So, anyone have some insight to help with the decision.

BTW: I have a fortknox handgun safe on the way.  I just need to find something to put in it... :-)

It is my experience that the spring loading is NOT a concern.
NOW, pistol or revolver thing will be up to you.
The SIG is an overwhelming---as not even in the argument concern--winner, IMO.
Course I have personal reasons to like the Sig and the 220 in particular.
The follow up shot is easier in the pistol than the revolver and that is the majority of opinion.
