Well, the June shoot has come and gone, and I have to say it was a hoot! The weather was perfect, sunny but not to hot, a light breeze to push the smoke out of the way. We have had a few more converts to the holy black. It seems some of our better shooters have gotten the smoky fever and have started loadin' up them thar sulphur loads! We had a somewhat amusing incident on our posse. A fellow was shooting some loads that a friend of his loaded for him. This went well for about two stages. On the third stage, he discovered rather abruptly that his "buddy" had slipped a few black powder loads into his box. Imagine, pop, pop, BOOOM!! Needless to say, he was somewhat perturbed. However, he cowboyed up and finished the match, though he did borrow one of my Vaqueros. He was afraid his Pietta clone might shake loose! (Just as an aside, I had a Pietta Liberty just like his and used it for a year with Pyrodex and had no problems. But he felt better with the Ruger, and it was used to the smelly stuff.) We never did figure out if Bobcat's friend did it on purpose, but Bobcat promised to find out! That reminds me, I need to check the paper and see if there has been a killing over in Lauderdale County. They might even have Bobcat's picture!
