180 gr round nose

have any of you all tried any 180 r/n handloads in 30-30? i've got an old 336a(mfg 1949) and am curios about performance. thanks, dinger

I do, & I like them.  They shoot as good as I do in my 1976 model 336.  I load both cast and jacketed.

Winterhawk, thanks for the reply. have you used any of the jacketed bullets on game? i guess i'm wondering if any of the 180 gr. round-nose jacketed bullets will expand at the velocities generated by the 30-30 from a 24" barrel (1900- 2100fps?)over normal 30-30 ranges(200 hundred yards max.).

Your best bet is to call the manufacture of the bullet you intend to use and ask them.
I've loaded and shot the 180gr Hornady inter-locs in my Marlin, they produced fine accuracy and expanded some.
You can not seat them at the crimp groove, they will be too long.
