coyote barrel

I am getting ready to buy a new 14" blue Bull Barrel, 223 cal. Coyote has a good price. How many of you guys have any hands on experience with this company and their products. I would appreciate comments, positive and negative.  thanks to all.

I just shoot my 357 max barrel from coyote this past weekend.  I am very pleased with it so far.  He was very helpful with my questions.  Delivery was about five weeks which I consider very good.  The price was not that much more than the factory barrels.  The gun shoot very well with my initial loads.  I can only imagine how good it will shoot with load work.  I have heard of others who were not so happy, but I have no complaints.

I just received my Coyote barrel this week, a 15" braked .444 Marlin.  Haven't shot it yet, that will come this weekend.  I can say that Paul is a one man operation and he's a treat to speak with.  I suggest you call him and have him answer any questions you have.  Form your opinion after you speak to him personally.  He's pretty knowledgeable and his quality is great.  For the money,  you can't beat his product.

Thank you very very much for this post.  I agree that Paul is very knowledgeable, and a pleasure to talk with.  I've come full circle, and will be ordering a .223 from him this fall.  I am confident it'll shoot great, and I will follow up.

tmar04, I don't have much to report yet on the .444 barrel, I'm still waiting for my forend to come.  I did get to shoot the barrel for a little break-in/sight-in time with the cheap little rubber stock forend stretched around it.  It's a real thumper, this year when Bambi is introduced to Thumper, it ain't going to be no rabbit!  I like Pauls barrel taper of .875, it's between a bull barrel and most heavy tapers, and his work on the barrel seems to be real nice.  I hope to get the correct forend by next weekend so I can see what kind of groups I get out of it.

I have the same barrel taper that you have.  I only wish that the factory would use the same taper, I had some difficultly getting a forend.  I have a prohunter and wanted to keep a matching forend.  The 12 gauge forend fits real nice but you have to get different screws because the shotguns use a larger diameter screw.  I definitely prefer coyote's taper.  On the factory .223 heavy barrel that I have, the taper starts sooner on the barrel and you end up with a gap under front end of the scope mount.  It always had kind of a cobbled look to it to my eye.  I don't know why tc didn't push the taper farther down the barrel on there barrels.  I doubt they will change there's now that they have so many encore barrels and forends out there.  If you have a 12 guage forend you should be able to use it until you get your forend.  All you need is different screws.
