B.C. with scope
« on: June 27, 2007, 08:35:13 AM »
Do any of you shoot the Buffalo Classic with a scope? And,if so what is your scope of choice?I am considering the acquisition of a B.C. and mounting a 6x-24x scope on such.

I have a Redfield 2 3/4x on a Target Model 38-55.  Since I can't shoot open sights...I think it looks cool. ;)

Not a BC but a 38-55 Target.  Sorry no pics of them together, it's not complete yet.  But this is the scope and it's 32 1/2" long.  It's 3X. by the way.  There are some 6X's out there for a lot more money.

Handirifle where did you get that scope?  Man that thing is beautiful!  Would you please post where you got it, and if there are any others.  I am interested, how does she shoot?  Is it looks or function?  I look forward to your reply.

SS
I actually got mine as a second hand one that had never been mounted, but at a big discount.  New it is $260 but I got mine for $180 shipped.  new they are available at
http://www.dixiegunworks.com/default.php?cPath=22_129_647

It is functional, it is a 3X power.  The crosshairs are fixed inside and adjustments are made outside by moving the entire scope up or down and left or right.

I'm still working on the rear mount, and it is about 90% complete.  I tried to buy existing mounts and was told by the companies that make/sold them they doubt it would work on my target rifle.  Soooo, I'm making my own.

My rear mount will be for elevation only and I'll be making the front mount for windage.
Here is the earlier thread with a few pics.

It will look slightly different than even the paper model.  I've been working on it some more tonight, about 2 hrs worth.  I'm to the point of needing to cut the slots in the vertical riser portion of the rear mount.  I'm not sure yet of the best method since I am not a machinist.

I haven't been able to shoot it yet, not with the scope anyway, but will surely post the results when I do.

Tim,

Did I ask you before?  How does your eye line up to the scope with the non-monte carlo stock?

Fine, even some of the montes have a low enough comb to work with sights. H&R stocks aren't all cookie cutter shapes, they've changed shapes slightly a lot, both in comb height and butt shape. Trying to swap butt pads can be an exercise in futility sometimes!! :-X The laminated MC below works fine with the WGRS, others are just too high, that stock came on my 204 Ruger Handi, it's about 3/8" lower than most other MCs.
