.41 Mag load
« on: June 28, 2007, 02:12:50 PM »
 Veral,
My wife bought be a Ruger SBHH in .41 Mag for Christmas.(The great woman she is) ;D  I plan on using it for deer antelope and elk this fall.(Yes I am on a quest to kill all three in one year with a pistol) A friend of mine told me to try your bullets. I am not sure which would be better in it the 250 or 265? Can you please point me towards the best bullets for that particular gun? Also what can I expect for performance on game? Thanks

Hands down best 41 bullet ive ever used is verals 250 lfngc. It drives nails in about any 41 you put it in.

As Loyd says, the most accurate is the 250 LFN, but to get optimum killing power, I recommend a 220 gr WFN, loaded to produce a DV (displacement Velocity) of 100 minimum,125 maximum.  At this DV, game up to moose will normally fold on the spot with chest hits.  If you are good enough to shoot unwounded game at ranges beyond 150 yards, an LFN will be superior due to its better accuracy, but kill speed will be slower, though I've found that most game hit at ranges beyond 150 yards are not alarmed by the guns report, and don't try to run hard, so normally go down in short distinces.  Normally, not always.
