sights on the buffalo classic

any of you guys hunt with the bc ? i have one in 45-70.  do you remove the front sight hood  for hunting  are use different sights all together

hey pard
i have removed the apetuer ?(sp) from the rear sight and used it as a ghost ring for hunting applications
it works pretty good out to abt 75 yards or so

I've not hunted with mine yet, but more than one person here has had trouble seeing the front sight in low light conditions due to the hood which can't be removed since it holds the sight insert. There are numerous options for the front sight since it uses a 3/8" dovetail, I would opt for a Firesight front and use the WGRS without an aperture as sureshot recommended or a Williams Twilight aperture, I've used both on muzzleloaders and they work extremely well.
