I would recommend calling Winchester. They issued a firing pin recall in the early 1990s. I actually got a notification as I had filled out the Warranty card when I bought my Model 100 in .308 in the early 1970s. The trigger group was susceptible to dirt and may need a good cleaning. I remember one that came into the shop that had such a dirty trigger mechanism that it did not operate properly. Cannot remember what the customer said it did tho, sorry. Mine actually jammed due to a braze or weld giving out on the operating slide or such (hard to remember now), and Winchester fixed these for free if the problem occurred. Mine was never accurate, truly a 4 inch grouper at 100 yards. My buddy got a shooter though, and he probably still has the rifle, at least he did at the time of the recall. Good luck. Let us know how it does accuracy wise when you get this ironed out.
