Forearm on a a-bolt hunter in .243 ?
« on: April 27, 2007, 02:06:52 PM »
I got disgusted with Savage 200's last summer and traded them all on an A-bolt Hunter in .243 Wasn't paying a whole lot of attention ! Now that I fiddled with it a while, I find the forearm too short, when I throw it up to shoot the swivel is in the palm of my hand ! Now this is just a regular .243 A-bolt hunter. Are they supposed to be made this way ? I looked at a 20" bbl in .308 yesterday and it had the same stock as mine. I guess there is nothing I can do about it but sell it. Too bad it is super accurate.

I think the A-Bolt II has a shorter overall stock length which makes it looks weird. You can tell if it is a 1 or 2 by counting the action screws. If it has 2 screws it is the original and if it has 3 screws it is a model 2. I have not been able to find any replacement stocks for the A-Bolt II and the ones for the original A-Bolt WILL NOT fit the A-Bolt II (learned that the expensive way)

It may also be the "Micro Hunter". Again,no replacement stocks are being made.Correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Thank you. It has two screws you can see and one under the floreplate. Darn I knew something was different. Well I  guess I will have to trade it for something else that fits better or sell it. It's a real honest  out of the box shooter ! I'm just a average medium size guy but that darn swevel  is right in the palm of my hand when I shoot.

I decided to keep it and learn to live with the stud problem. I looked at some others yesterday and mine is so much more attractive (wood) besides it shoots almost one hole 3 shot groups ! I will take the stud out or move it forward a couple of inches.
