Has the 8mm Mauser cartridge ever been necked up to .35?  If so, what was the result?

Without a doubt but I have no specific info on it. I doubt there are any such old cases that haven't been necked up and down to about every combination possible. It should be somewhere between the .358 Win. and .35 Whelen in case capacity and thus performance. Finding data for it would be nearly impossible and pressure tested data totally nonexistent I suspect. You'd likely need to extrapolate data using pressure tested data from the above two .35s and comparing the case capacity of your wildcat vs. those two factory rounds.

Since there isn't really a huge difference in the performance of the .358 and the Whelan you can't expect miracles but if you split the velocity difference you'd have a good approximation of what you could expect.

9x57=.355 cal factory round. 9.3x57 =.366 cal.  Like Graybeard said there really isn't much to gain in bulding one in 35 cal. Now if you went to the9.3x62 that is a horse of a different color ;D

A friend of mine has a commercial Mauser sporter that is chambered in 9x57. It is an excellent cartridge and does fall between the 358 Win. and 35 Whelen in performance. He makes cases by necking up 8x57 cases in RCBS dies.

I didn't mean the 9x57 isn't a good cartridge, just that the .358 or .35 whelen are easier. More options in the USA.
