Sidekick Magnum? Worth the extra $$?
« on: July 07, 2007, 05:13:37 AM »
I plan on buying my first muzzleloader and I am looking at the SS Sidekick.

Are the Magnums worth the extra money? Can I shoot no magnum rounds out of the Magnum?

Does the Magnum just give me more options??

Thanks for any advice...

The 26" magnums are all they make anymore. I see Sports South has some 24" ones in stock, at least they did a week or so ago.

If you want to shoot magnum loads (150 grains of pellets, 120 grains of loose), you will want the 26" barrel to get the most out of your powder. You can shoot less than magnum loads in both.

Yes, the magnum gives you more options and 2 more inches of barrel.

I have a 24" SS Huntsman, does everything I want it to. Some people get wrapped up in the magnum loads, not me. 80 grains 777 FFFG behind a 430 grain all lead conical kills elk just fine, surely don't need more for a whitetail.
