If your ultimate goal is accuracy, you'll want to stick with something 63gr. or lighter.  At least this has been my experience with ARs, the majority of which are 1-9" twist.  If you are wanting to shoot something heavier, like the 70, 80, or even 90gr. slugs that are now are available in .224 you'll need to go to a 1-7" twist.  Even my ARs with 1-9" do their most accurate work with 55 grainers over the 60 and 62s I've used, with the exception of some Nosler 60gr. solid base slugs which almost equal some of the 55s.

If you come up with a 60 or heavier that works for you in a 1-9 I would appreciate a heads up.  Always up for something new. ::)

I have a Savage 10 tact. 1:9 twist. The 52g Sierra HP are the starter for me, up to the 60gr bullets. I have had the rifle gone over, so I hope to attain the better accuracy, they claim, so far 1.5" is the best I can do at 100yd. That could be me, how ever my Parker-Hale 243 sporter will print .50 groups, at 100.

I use 50 & 55gr Sierras through my AR and Mod 10 Savage with BLC-2 and H335 with great results.
Shot some p-dogs just last week out in Montana. Most hits were stepped off between between 250 &350 paces with a couple out to 600 paces. Don't get me wrong, not all shots connected but for this old city boy taking 3-4 shots to dial in then connecting seemed like a right good bullet to me.

I have an AR 1-9 twist 18in. barrel best load I have found for this gun is 52gr. seirra hpbt math(number 1410) loaded with 26gr Varget. Yes it is a compressed load. This is the only load I have found to put 5 shots touching at 100 yards consistantly with my rifle. Best I can do with 55 gr bullets is 3/4 in. Always seem to have a small gap in the holes.
