Molds/moulds
« on: August 02, 2007, 03:53:02 AM »
Where can a person find a paper patch bullet mould, other than a Lee, for a paper patch 540 grain bullet that isn't so expensive. Or do I just have to "bite the bullet".

For a paper patch mold you will probably be looking to have mold made. Steve Brooks made my .40 cal mold for me.
I think it was about $150 delivered. I was very impressed with his work. The bullets drop out of the mold at .392
just as I asked for when I ordered it.
I think I will be sending him another order for my 45 cal this month some time. I was thinking of ordering this one
to cast .442 bullets. That should give me about .450-.451 after patching with #9 paper.
Are you looking for bore sized or groove sized after patching? Just curious .

There was a two cavity LEE PAPER PATCH MOULD, with two different bullets, listed on one of the auctions a day or two ago.  It might have been the one we're learning to love to hate.  Sorry I can help you more.

I'm finalizing on what I want for my BIG 50 SHILOH, after talking to KURT, POWDERBURNER and Bob Bryan at the Quigley Shoot.  A little more research and asking questions and a bunch of YANKEE DOLLARS....and cooler weather to cast!
When they said Sharps, I always thought BIG 50!
