No local ffl's carry Handi's in SS. Are they rare?

Called two today to order one. Neither said they could get one and one really seemed put out that I wanted him to try and find one. Man, you try to help the local guy and no results.

What is the deal? I also asked about a SS Sidekick and they both were like "Why would you want to buy one of THOSE muzzleloaders.

I am looking for a SS handi in 30-06. Any help? Any negative comments about this rifle?

Mine shoots good with laminated stock on it, didn't do too well with the syn stock, but I never tried it, the fella that had it before me sold it cuz he couldn't get it to shoot, the forend might take some "tuning" to get it to shoot.

RR has 7 SS 30-06s in stock.

SSI has them in stock if you have Walmart or a dealer that will order from them.

I had a dealer tell me "nobody wants a single shot rifle" when I asked about ordering a 223.
That was the last time I went in there.
Many people think these guns are junk because they are cheap.
The truth is they are just very simple.
Our other dealer is happy to sell you a plain wood handi for $280. :D

Lipseys.com has SS Handy's .223, .22-250 and .243 in stock now...no .30-06 though.
