30 06 reloads fro 180's

I have some imr 4064 for reloading my handi with 165g Hornady BTSP interlocks. Is this powder good for 180g or should I get some 4350 or 4895 or something else, appreciate the advice.

48 gn of 4064 is a factory duplication load with the 180 gn slug that will get you 2666'/sec (26" test barrel).  47.5 gn of 4895 has always been an accuracy load with the 180 gn slug that was favored for use in the M1 Garand - was good for 2659'/sec. 

My preferred load with the 180 is/was 60 gn of 4831 for 2840'/sec in an older mil-surp I once owned, but now I stick pretty much to factory loads or factory specs 'cause the M70 I have had for the last 38 years doesn't shoot the hot heavies as well as that Winchester made M17 I owned.  Mikey.

That depends of what your trying to attain. Is accuracy and velocity where you want it?

 Any of the powders mentioned here can be great for this caliber. 4895 is petty much a requirement if you like the shape of your op-rod in a grand. But if your in a bolt or SS you have more choices to try if accuracy isn't great.

Personally, 4350 has gotten me everything I could ask for from the 30-06. I only load the '06 with two bullets and even then the 180 takes the lions share of the room in my cartridge boxes. About 55-57grs of IMR 4350 is right in my guns. I like Hornady 180 RN, Sierra BTSP's as well as Nosler BT's for lighter stuff. Its a max load in some so be careful.
