German cartridge ID

Since we talk about some German guns on here, I thought someone might be able to help me with this.

Recently went to a German gun show and saw a type of cartridge that I’ve never seen or heard of before.  Thought I’d see if anyone had any ideas about it.  The Recently went to a German gun show and saw a type of cartridge that I’ve never seen or heard of before.  Thought I’d see if anyone had any ideas about it.  The guy had three of them in a case but he was really busy selling stuff and didn’t seem to speak any English.  Of course the Frau und Kinderen drug me out of the show before I could get back to try to ask him about it so…  This was about the same length as a .30-’06 but it had TWO shoulders.  About one-half inch up from the base, it had a shoulder that was fairly sharp then at the “normal” point, it had another shoulder that served to make the neck like normal.  Don’t remember if it was rimmed or not… Any ideas?guy had three of them in a case but he was really busy selling stuff and didn’t seem to speak any English. Don’t remember if it was rimmed or not… Any ideas?

Sounds like a belted magnum case to me.

Belted magnums use the "belt", (near the case rim)  to headspace the case; or give it the correct fit in the chamber.
