I can't answer you exactly, but I will tell you that my 15" .308 Win Encore has considerable less felt recoil than a Taurus Raging Bull in .454.  I'd much rather shoot the .308.

I have a 10" .480 Ruger barrel and a 15" 30-06 barrel.Should be close to what your asking and the reciol from the '06 is about two and a half times more.I have only shot 325gr bullets out of my .480.Have you shot your .480?....If so have you started reloading yet?I put a Pro-Point red dot on mine and just love the way the .480 shoots.Keep me informed on any loads you try and let me know how they worked for you I'll do the same. :D

I have the Midway 10" special run 480 Ruger and a 15" SS 308 barrel.  The 308 kicks much worse than the 480 to me.  The 480 has a nice hard push, while the 308 just pushes straight back with a lot more speed.  I even find that my 454 12" Encore is easier to shoot (but harder than the 480).  I downloaded the 308 using lighter bullets (110 and 125 grain) and powder charges less than the ones that were more accurate and the recoil did subside some, but still harder than the 480.  The light loads in the 308 weren't as accurate when loaded down in my barrel.  Since then, my 308 SS has been collecting dust and I have moved back to my Contender 30-30 for any 30 Caliber shooting.  I haven't tried some of the light loads for the 308 yet, such as using Blue Dot, etc.

In the 480, I have shot both weights of the XTP bullets in it.  I have some of the Gold Dots, just haven't tried them out yet.

Tell me the powder charge and MV for each and I'll run the numbers from my "Load from a Disk" and tell you how much recoil energy each load generates.
