Remington 600

OK Guys need to pick your brains,I have a Remington 600 that I want to put a synthetic stock on and don't think I'd like the ramline that is offered.But have read in a couple places where some have used the model seven stock by redrilling the tang bolt hole by as one put it .93 or close to an inch and just using the bottom metal from the seven.Can this be done?Or better yet anyone done this?I like the shape of the model seven stock,and if it would work may be tempted to do it.Thanks for any input.

I think the actions were pretty close in size but since I've never owned a 600 just how close I'm not real sure. I'd expect that a good deal of glass bedding could be required and it's even possible some cutting out to make it all fit together but it really could be as simple as drilling the other hole. Wish I had more than speculation to offer but don't.

The one thing I'd think would be most troublesome would be the bolt fit to stock. I'd doubt seriously that both are gonna be at same spot what with the dogleg configuration of the 600.

I have a couple 600 rifles and from what i have gathered from my gunsmith all that would be needed is the front mounting screw would have to be drilled and tapped , he was telling me the the spacing is almost the same but would have to d&t for a new front screw i just havent found a nice stock to put on , and i have a rem 600 action just sitting without a stock so if you get a new stock i would buy your old one
