What kind of receiver is used for the .22/.410 Versa-Pak?
« on: July 22, 2007, 09:24:41 PM »
Does anyone know what kind of receiver is used in the (SYC-42S)  .22LR / .410  Versa-Pak Combo?

I'm familiar with what the SB1 and SB2 receivers are, and that the "Sportster" receiver is used for rimfire guns.  The .22LR / .410 Versa-Pak has a .22LR barrel with and 'off-set' chamber, but strikes the .410 in its certer-primer.  This makes me think the 'Versa-Pak Combo' must use an SB1 receiver.

What I am ultimately hoping is that the Versa-Pak .22/.410 indeed uses an SB1 receiver and I can have a low pressure rifle round like a .30-30 or .223R (with its smaller rim) custom fitted to the Versa-Pak's frame.

I of course prefer the more "intense" full-power rounds the SB2 can handle, but it seems the SB1 should be able to handle rounds like the .30-30, .22 Hornet, .357 Magnum, .223 Rem, etc.

Comments please?

H&R will not fit any barrels to the Versa frame or any rifle barrels to SB1 frames for that matter due to the lack of frame strength. The use of a rifle barrel on a shotgun frame is considered unsafe so it won't be discussed here on GBO.

Please read the Versa pack sticky in the NEF rimfire forum, lots of discussion on it.

Sorry, but that's the way it is. ;)
