What do you guys think about a Model 94 .356 Winchester AE  made in 1994?  Looks like it is new in box.   I have four other big bores like a 45-70 .444Marlin a .375 Winchester and a Remington 7600 35Whelen.  I don't need it for hunting but only own one other Winchester a Model 1300.  I hear  the .356 is the best of the Winchester BB's.  They say it is a real 200yd gun for elk.  That would be OK as I don't think I have ever taken over a 200yd shot anyway.  If I had to shoot long range I would use the 35Whelen.  I kind of have this lever-gun disease, that every time I see one homeless I feel I need to help it out and bring it home.

My last hunt was for black bear in Manitoba last spring and used the .375 Winchester(Marlin) and it was very impressive as a woods gun.  220gr Hornady loads, shot the bear and he fell over dead.  But the .356 Winchester has a very good reputation as a woods gun.  My only concern is the angle eject does it really work?  If so let me know.

Mine works excellent, and is accurate to boot.  I have a Leupy M8-2X on mine, and it keeps 5 200 grainers under 1 1/2" @ 100yds, easily.

Mine has the standard, rather than the "canoe paddle", stock - so fits me great. YMMV.

I have several 94's with the angle eject receiver, a .307, .356, .30-30,  .444, and a .450M. The .307 is the only one I've had a scope on, It wore a Burris 1.5-5X for years, and never had a problem with the angle eject. It's now back to the Williams fp peeps that most of my Winchesters have , and the scope is on a BLR. My .356 I only have punched paper with, and has mostly been a closet queen since I picked up the .444 and .450 timber carbines, so I don't have any experience to share on it's effectiveness. Does your .356 have the "1894-1994" engraving on the receiver? I have 2 94's, .30-30's, from 1994 with the engraved receivers-
I'd definitely try a receiver peep sight or the XS Express sights for a woods gun before I'd scope it, sounds like you've got a long range thumper already.
