Good Headlamp for night hunting

I want to do some night Hunting for Yotes with a friend of mine , Have never done so before. Thought it would be nice to have a good headlamp to keep my hands free of a flashlite. Do any of you have any recommendations on ones that you use? I have seen many on e-bay but not sure what to go with, Thanks for your help.........Dale

A Headlamp is handi  But not real usefull if your calling for yotes. I sugest a good hand held spotlight with RED lens, and a Scope mounted light (like a Lightforce 170) Both should have adjustable power, and Halo guards installed, you don't want to "Burn" them with high power till there close enough to make POSITIVE ID and take the shot. ~Ace~

BTW, if your stuck on a Headlamp, I have a Bandit 21 Volt Belt Battery light with smart charger and Wheat head that I'm Very happy with

Be sure to check your state laws about night hunting with a light.  My son has a head light that he got for coon hunting.  It was a little pricey but very nice.  It has a battery that attaches to his belt with a brightness control.  I was really surprised at how well you could see the eye shine of a coon with just a small amount of light, in fact if you turn the brightness up too much you see everything EXCEPT the coon.  It also has a red filter to slip over the light but we never used it.  You are right, it is nice to have your hands free.  

A barrel mounted light is another option, but you have to remember that the barrel is pointed where the light is looking and that isn't always in a safe direction to be pointing your weapon.  Know the area you are hunting very well if you are out at night and be aware if the land owner or neighbors have any livestock out and about, or even small pets.

Thanks guys for the good advice, I really only want the headlamp for Walking to and from our spot, loading my gun , for finding things I misplace ,(which I always do ) I already have a good spotlight  with two battery packs and red lense. Just need something to find my way around. Pa. law says you can hunt at night as long as your spotlight is rechargeable and you only have a red lense. looking forward to getting a yote with my 22 hornet,   Only thing that bothers me is that  they say there are mountain Lions around pa now, so we are not at the top of the food chain anymore...Ha Ha ..........Thanks again ,,,Dale

For just a walk around headlight I have one from Wal-Mart, about $9.  The LED type are much easier on batteries and give a nice glow and don't weigh much.  I use one to walk into my deer stand and get things ready.  I also have a brighter light in my pack in case I need it.

The Wal-Mart model is great.  I have used one to walk to my deer stand for several years.  Its great to have your hands clear so you can carry more plunder with you.

I use the LED light that clips under the bill of my cap. You can see well enough to walk with it and it's liteweight.

Uses 4 AA batteries.,NightBlaster Waterproof Krypton Headlamp.  Really happy with it so far,  only $9.99. waterproof is a plus since I love to be out in the woods in the rain.
