Tim. With the edit poll option. I won't be able to edit the way I would like where you could pick 2. The only way to do it would be to start over. Dale

I can add an additional vote, then you can add the text to require everyone to vote for a rimfire option. The only problem is, that someone could taint the vote by voting for 2 centerfires or 2 rimfires. :-\ The other choice would be to start a new poll, and I'll merge everyone's replies with it.

I picked the 22 Hornet.  I prefer the old rimmed cartridges in my Handi's ;)

Tim I think we would be better off starting a new poll. You could merge the replies. Then I could ask the people to vote again. I think that would be a better poll. What do you think?  Dale

.25-06. forgive me, im biased to this round. in all the game, in all the other calibers i have ever carried int the woods and fields, NONE have killed quicker, cleaner or more decicively as the .25-06. plus, it would cover me anywhere in the world i wanted to kill varmints or other animals up to the size of coyotes, from short range in the east, to long range in the west.

Dale, on second thought, I don't know if I can merge old posts with a new topic, I've merged new posts with old topics, but not the other way around.  ???

I picked the .243 because of the large variety of bullets  and I have found it much more deadly on coyotes. Any of the calibers listed will do the trick but the way we hunt coyotes here most of our shots are running and shot placement is not quite as precise as on called ones that are standing. If this poll were for varmints only I would have chose the .223 for the availability of cheap ammo and low recoil. Shooting hundreds of rounds of .223 is much easier on the wallet than any of the others listed with plenty of long range capability.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

Handiholic Heresy !!!..."only one barrel on a H&R/NEF "..that's like being limited to one finger on your off hand !...LOL

I agree...since there are many of us have more barrels than complete rifles..and we bought them because we can have it this way...having just 1 isn't quite right somehow...

Perhaps we can start a poll with list of our favorite calibers and allow up to 5 votes...this way it will cover a wider spectrum of what folks like...If I had to choose only 1...I would go somewhere I could own more... :P

I would vote 22-250 because it is a great round and have seen what it will do to a coyote....pretty much turns their innards to liquid. There was also a write up here about a guy who killed a fairly large hog with a 22-250 and his handloads with a Barnes X bullet in the paper.1 shot dropped him in his tracks. I think it would be fairly good for other smaller pests also.My father in law has varmint hunted and killed deer with his,but he will also tell you it is all in shot placement.

    Whoops !

Looks like I opened a "can of worms" with the rimfire/centerfire thing...sorry..

...But don't go to the trouble of changing things on my account.

Good Poll... with Very realistic votes (aside from the .22lr) Between the .223. .22-250 and .243, it's mainly going to come down to the terrain there hunting in. I use both .223 and .243 myself. ~Ace~

hello...i voted 223...i have to admit i never have used a handi 223...yet i do think this  round is very versatile...& with solid bullet's a reliable performer on called coyote's...& the "lack" of recoil is sweet...
