10/22 safety is it reversible?
« on: June 03, 2003, 02:53:24 AM »
I shoot left handed and was wondering if anyone knows if the ruger 10/22 factory safety is reversible.   If not does anyone make a safety for a lefty for this rifle?  Thanks.

I am really not sure if the safety's reversable or not. Most likely it would be but do you really want to. The parts makers no longer make reversable safeties, probably due to legal issues If you change the action of a safety device on a weapon and someone else has an accident there is an inherent liability on your part. I have installed left hand safeties on rifles and shotguns but no more. Creating a situation where a safety device is altered will you sued. Remember logic and justice have little to do with it. That a person handling a firearm is the one who made a mistake they will be held essencially blameless, you will not.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Sorry,
I fail to see what the issue is.....I too am left handed and to push a safety button on the trigger guard is hardly difficult left or right handed?????
