Was looking for input for on red dot style scope for use on a Smith 629 44.  Will be used for deer out to 75 yrds.  Was thinking about going with the Burris.
Thanks.

I've used an Ultra Dot on one of my 629's for 17 years, to my complete satisfaction. It's been durable and is compact and light weight. The dot is a little fuzzy, and all red dots are a little tricky at dusk as it gets darker, with a need to turn down the light intensity, but mine has performed well enough in varied hunting scenarios.

I shoot an Ultra on my 629-4 Classic and there is no fuzzy to mine, at all? But, mine is a newer one. Very nice scopes. Mine even has an adjustable dot size, four sizes to choose from. Rheostat(brightness)has 11 adjustment levels.

Thanks for the info, I think I'm going to buy a Burris.  Should work good for what I want with close range shots.

I use and recommend the Ultra dot Match dot. I have used in on 44 Mag, 454 Casull 460 Mags and 500 Mags. I have tried many red-dot sights but none are as good as the Ultra-dot.  JMHO.

HEAD0001, wouldn't you agree that for hunting the Leupold-Gilmore scope's 1" diameter is at a disadvantage behind the Ultra's 30mm tube(quicker pick up of the dot)? Maybe even on something like your PPC gun in competition, or is your L-G a 30mm tube, also? Hard to tell from the angle in your photo?

Stop at a couple shops and "draw" their sights, find a couple that work good for your style/body/eyeballs then wheel n deal from there.
