rossi 223 accuracy

I found Rossi .223s for $150, how well do they shoot, compared to say the H&R counterpart? its just the standard barrel.
And do they come with the scope base?

I found it to be very accurate at 100 yards. Scope rail and hammer extension are included.

thats good to hear, so i get one new it'll have the rail and hammer seperate but in the box right. The whole idea to get it is i got a Bushnell to mount on it and i want a single shot .223

well i went and got one, however i had issues with the set screws in the barrel. Some how my dad got one of the bad screw(two rear ones came out fine) out but the other just stripped and wouldn't budge. i noticed the two that came out were different color steel or aluminum i imagine, and the front were brass colored...so brass i imagine.

Was the screw stripped or the tapped hole in the barrel? If the barrel was stripped I would return it ASAP. Mine has been shooting really well for 100 + shots. Took it out today was all over the place. I had some cheap scope mounts on it. I put some high mounts on it today from Leuplod.  Much better clearance from the hammer extender.

the screw head got stripped trying to remove it.
So far it seems to be doing fine with 3 screws. it shoots groups and throws  quite a few flyers and shifts some but i count that to being a new rifle and not allowing for cooling cause that barrel seems to be kinda thin to me. I zeroed at 25yrds for the most part. Bushnell Trophy 6-18 is doing fine...better be anyway be shameful for it to fail on a .223 when it was on a .300wbymag and the Banner now is also holding up to it

Hello, i dont know about the standard barrel, I have a rossi .223 with the heavy varmint barrel and it shoots sub MOA to 300 yds. I do however reload my ammo which is neck sized only. I use a 52gr. BTHP match bullet with 24.5 gr of IMR3031 powder.

With the price of Ammo, and the price increases coming September 1, I started reloading last week. I have a good teacher and did alot of reading on the subject. I am using a Sierra BTHP match bullet with Varget 25.5 gr. I was punching holes in holes at 50 yards. I also tried a loaner of Accurate 2330, 22.0 gr with the same bullet. I saw really no difference. I also have been reloading 6.5x55 with varget. My Mauser really likes it with a 100gr Sierra match point. The Mauser I have shot to 100 yards, 50 yards today was my first time out with the .223 load. I'm very pleased, much better groups then the 4-5 different factory loads I shot. I am neck sizing only as well,  brass I have shot.

the buckslayer, I have tried varget as well but only tried 5 rounds at 25.5gr, the group was ok, but through my chronograph showed slower fps. I did not want to change my favorite load during varmint season here so I'll work on the varget again later this fall.

I'm keeping the varget for my mauser. Varget is $17.99 here, Accurate 2230 is $15.99. Varget needs 25.5, accurate 22.0g. With Varget price comes to $3.28 for 20. Accurate is $2.94 for 20.
