old model blackhawk
« on: July 22, 2007, 01:05:37 PM »
Well I have been eyeing a Old 3 screw blackhawk(1966 model) at my local gun store last 3 weeks and the owner came down in price Friday enough to make me buy it. This one has not had the safety work done to yet I have another old model that had already been sent back when I bought it. Here is a couple of pics I added a set of custom grips on it I already owned.

Nice!  Got my first 3-screw (unconverted)- a twin to that one a short while ago myself.  Was too good a deal to pass up (under $300)
Any chance of some closer pics of those grips?  Where ya get 'em?

I had to give $300 out the door for this one he had been asking $350 plus tax. It didn't sell for a few weeks so the store owner lowered his price. The grips are from www.klamathriverwoodworks.com and are Stabilized buckeye burl with walnut backing for strength. The backing makes them alittle thicker than the factory grips at first I was not sure I liked the thicker feel, but after shooting with the thicker custom grips they seem to help controll/lessen the recoil with full 357mag loads. Thanks to that fact I am really likeing the grips alot now. I will get a close up grip pic for you next day or so I am not home at this time and the pistol is :).

Thanks for the link.
I've just spent the last hour looking at the most beautiful grips I've ever seen in my life
anywhere.  Sure wish I could afford two pair of them. But, it's not practical for my use
to have grips on hunting guns that cost over $100.  Wouldn't take long til they were
beat, or chipped.

I NEED two sets of fill in type for the standard blackhawk.
Same as what some make for the super, only they can't be recut to fit the standard type.

What I'm looking for are solely to save my knuckle from getting whacked every shot.
They don't need to be fancy in anyway.

Thanks much,

George
