Where are the acorns ?
« on: August 10, 2007, 05:48:32 AM »
Been hog baiting between Banner and and Council bluff lake.(Hy 32) But I haven't seen any acorns ? Looks like western Iron Co doesn't have any. I wondered why I haven't even seen a squirrel.

Yep, I see the same thing around my area.  That spring freeze got a lot of nut and fruit trees.  It looks like it will be a hard winter for the wildlife, especially those that feed off acorns.

No doubt about it.....the April 6th week freeze...did a number on the pecan, oak, and fruit trees.........I have tow pecans in my front yard...one stands alone , and has nothing to show ....the other , is mostly umbrella'd by a LARGE oak......the pecans are weighing down the branches now.....it never got a direct hit , so it will produce.....I'd say look for pockets that might have been spared the brunt of the cold.....but with very slim pickins...even they wont last long......
