« on: August 11, 2007, 11:22:42 AM »
;DI finally got time to go,and its too hot for fishing.Took my GP-100 out to the range and made a few sight adjustments,at 25yds. my last three shots were all bullseyes :o.I think I like groundhog hunting with my pistol more than big game,Havent been out at all yet this year.So wish me luck.Anyone else getting any with a pistol?

got a couple this yr. hadn't even seen one around the farm for years :o

the fluted 17 5/8" 6x47 contender is one sweet rig ;D i used a 75gr sierra hp over varget. shots were under 100yrds from field position, but this caliber would be up for much more. it is really accurate on paper too.

ratgunner - as you have found out, there are great benefits to small-gaming, even if you don't bag anything.....  Mikey.

Well I got out again today. :)The little grizzles were out in force with the break in the weather I knew they should be.I got one :o at 35yds. head shot. But I am ashamend to admit I should have got about a dozen easily. :'(I need two things first a set of shooting sticks[have a mono pod] and second better sights or a scope. Also more PRACTICE.LOL.

I shoot 'em with my T\C .223 rifle set up, or my T\C .243 rifle set up....but the most satisfying is when I nail 'em with my T\C 14" 7-30 Waters (Scoped) set up. I got one a few weeks ago at 140 yards!!!

If you already have the Stoney Point Monopod, then I would recommend you get the addition that will make it a tri-pod. That's the set-up that I have and it's really a solid platform to shoot from. I would never had shot that one at 140 yards if I didn't have the 7-30 handgun set up sitting on the tri-pod. Stoney Point makes some excellent products. Since you already have half of it, you may want to just invest and get the other half.

MHO
