what scope bases should I buy for the new 700 SPS Varmint 243? I have a Muller 8.5x25.44 scope I will be putting on it. Do you know what height rings I should get for it?   Dale

My favorite base/ring combination for R700s for hunting is the Burris or Leupold Dual Dovetail set up. It's as solid as a rock. But on varmint rifles I usually wind up putting on Weaver bases and using Burris Signature Zee Rings since the recoil of a varmint rifle for me is vey minimal. The Mueller is a large scope so I think you'll likley want to use high rings on it. As best as I can recall that's what I used on the one I reviewed.
