That's odd, my first H&R tip up single only whetted my appetite for more. I hear some have gotten Handi Rifles with less than stellar quality control but almost all of mine have been fine hunting and shooting tools. For those of us within the borders of the USA (sorry Fred) their Customer Service department is 5+ star. For the price they simply cannot be beat....<><....
here is a post today by a "newbie" with no axe to grind about H&R's....and this is not uncommon, although there are naysayers out there...

Just shot my 204 at the range today. 100 yd.- .494 in. 200 yd.- .973 in. Unreal for a $229 rifle with a $119 BSA scope and HSM factory 33gr. Calhoon ammo. The only thing I did to it was rtv bed the forearm and paint the stock camo."
